How hard is the Leuphana Study Skills test?
One of the most searched questions before the selection days is simply: how hard is it? And the honest answer is: harder than most people expect, easier than a few people fear, and entirely manageable with proper preparation. Here’s what actual applicants have reported.
What catches people off guard
Almost universally, the concentration section surprises applicants most. ‚I knew it would be fast-paced, but not that fast,‘ is a recurring sentiment in applicant forums. Many describe the feeling of watching the clock while still working on page two of five — a stressful experience that no amount of casual studying prepares you for.
The linguistic systems section is often initially confusing. The first 60 seconds of looking at an invented language table can feel disorienting. But applicants who had practised similar tasks report that the format ‚clicked‘ after one or two examples.
What applicants found easier than expected
The diagram and table section is generally rated the most accessible. Students who regularly read news, follow data stories, or study social sciences find this section intuitive. The key insight from experienced applicants: ‚Don’t overthink it. The data either supports a statement or it doesn’t — there are rarely grey areas.‘
One applicant who scored highly described her approach: ‚I treated every minute like it was the last. No lingering. No second-guessing unless I had time left over.‘
A realistic difficulty rating
Based on experience reports, the test sits around 6–7 out of 10 in difficulty: challenging but far from impossible. Applicants who prepared consistently report feeling significantly more confident and achieving better scores than those who walked in cold.
