About the HSG Selection Procedure

As of 2023, the main admission requirement for the University of St. Gallen is to pass their online aptitude test. The exam consists of a 70 minute online exam which tests applicants on their critical thinking and analysis skills in the areas of „Quantitative Problem“ and „Graphs and Tables“. The selection exam is only relevant to foreign applicants. Depending on how well applicants perform, they may be required to record an additional video interview which consists of questions relating to their motivations and interests. Applicants for a bachelor’s degree without Swiss or Liechtenstein nationality or residence permit C, or without a recognized Swiss or Liechtenstein certificate of secondary education, or without a university degree. When is the application period?
The application period is from October 1st – April 30th for the following autumn semester program start. To apply for the February HSG selection procedure, your full application must be received by January 15th. Otherwise, only the June selection procedure is available.

The selection procedure takes place online from your own home.
What can I expect during the selection procedure?
The selection procedure is consists of two parts. The first part is an online aptitude test whicch is administered in February or June. Depending on your test results, you will either be admitted to the university or required to submit an additional video interview. The video interview will take place the same week of receiving your test results.
